Self-Digesting Media: Finnegan's Wake, Wet Brain, film01 & self-unreading.
Walking out of film01 into The End of Evangelion.
“In the future, everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes.”1
“In the future, everyone will be famous to fifteen people.”2
“Do you like how…only six people have a clue what I’m talking about? That’s not a good style. That doesn’t make you famous.”3
In Finnegan’s Wake, a guy falls, is presumed dead, then turns out to be fine.
In the Bible, a guy is raised up, ensured to be dead, and then turns out to be divine.
“I want her to hold a gun to my head and say fuck me in the pussy or I’ll…4” the rest requires a paid membership, but “…shoot you, and then myself” is the logical conclusion. After all, if she denies herself what she can’t have - who’s responsible for her desire now? “Double suicide or it wasn’t love5” - more like murder-suicide.
When Finnegan rose from the dead, they put him back in the tomb, alive, to be transmuted into the mundane. The absolute un-reading of his entirety. Compare this to the resurrection of Christ, who walked out of the tomb on his own, to tell everyone he was leaving, so that we might want he remain forever. Everyone who walked out of film01 saw themselves being subsumed into the eschaton - unlike Christ, they woke up at The End of Evangelion.
Have fun realizing the same thing over and over - or you could have just read the Substack: “reading as production is taken as amnesiac unless handed over to a power greater than itself”.6 Did anyone else not listen to Wet Brain until they could listen to Wet Brain all at once?
I’ve been staring at a screen all day today since I was born, fr, on god.
“Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw him go into heaven”.7 So why are you staring into your phone like you’re expecting to find truth there?
Or, just: Why all the staring?
In short, no one ever attains mahamudra, ever attains dzogchen, with their eyes closed.
I got the Honor Levy meal8 at McDonalds, on god.
